Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penerapan model Project Based Learning (PjBL) berbasis isu sosio saintifik dalam meningkatkan literasi sains siswa pada materi sistem pertahanan tubuh. Literasi sains merupakan kompetensi penting yang harus dimiliki siswa dalam menghadapi tantangan global dan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan. Model Project Based Learning (PjBL) berbasis isu sosio saintifik dipilih karena memberikan pengalaman belajar yang nyata dan relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, yang dapat meningkatkan literasi sains dan pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep sains. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pre– eksperimen dengan populasi siswa kelas XI di salah satu SMA di kota Bandung. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari satu kelas dengan penerapan model Project Based Learning (PjBL) berbasis isu sosio saintifik yang terdiri dari 27 siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen penelitian berupa tes tertulis dan non tes. Tes tertulis berupa soal pretest posttest untuk menguji literasi sains berdasarkan kemampuan menulis, dan non tes berupa lembar penilaian keterlaksanaan dan rubriknya untuk menilai produk artikel popular yang ditulis siswa. Selain itu juga dilakukan pengukuran respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan menggunakan angket siswa. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji wilcoxon dan uji N-Gain dengan bantuan software SPSS ver. 25. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Project Based Learning (PjBL) berbasis isu sosio saintifik secara signifikan meningkatkan literasi sains siswa. Analisis data menggunakan uji N-Gain menunjukkan hasil kategori tergolong sedang (0,5054). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa model Project Based Learning (PjBL) berbasis isu sosio saintifik efektif meningkatkan literasi sains siswa pada materi sistem pertahanan tubuh. The aim of this study is to examine the implementation of a Project Based Learning (PjBL) model based on socio-scientific issues to enhance students' scientific literacy in the context of the immune system. Scientific literacy is an essential competency that students must possess to face global challenges and advancements in science. The Project Based Learning (PjBL) model based on socio-scientific issues was chosen because it provides authentic and relevant learning experiences connected to daily life, which can enhance scientific literacy and students' understanding of scientific concepts. This study uses a pre-experimental design with a population of 11th-grade students at a high school in Bandung. The research sample consists of one class implementing the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model based on socio-scientific issues, comprising 27 students. The research instruments include both written and non-written tests. The written test consists of pretest and posttest questions to assess scientific literacy based on writing skills, while the non-written test includes assessment sheets and rubrics to evaluate the popular science articles written by students. Additionally, students' responses to the learning process were measured using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and N-Gain test with the help of SPSS software version 25. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model based on socio-scientific issues significantly enhances students' scientific literacy. Data analysis using the N-Gain test shows a moderate category result (0.5054). The conclusion of this study is that the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model based on socio-scientific issues is effective in improving students' scientific literacy on the immune system topic.
