Abstract

Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) dalam kerangka Pendidikan Umum dan Karakter di Indonesia sejatinya mampu mencapai target yang telah digariskan negara yakni menguatkan pribadi mahasiswa yang moderat beragama berbasis nilai-nilai ajaran Islam. Namun, data menginformasikan masih ada kalangan mahasiswa yang memiliki pemahaman, sikap, dan perilaku kontra moderasi beragama, bahkan beberapa dari mereka terpapar radikalisme, ekstremisme, hingga terlibat gerakan terorisme. Beberapa kajian menyoroti bahwa proses pembelajaran yang belum optimal merupakan faktor penting yang menghambat pencapaian tujuan. Dengan memposisikan PAI sebagai Pendidikan Umum dan Karakter, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model pembelajaran PAI untuk menginternalisasikan nilai-karakter moderasi beragama pada mahasiswa PTU. Penelitian ini memilih rancangan metode campuran sekuensial eksploratori sehingga data questerview, wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi dianalisis secara kualitatif (reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan), sementara data kuesioner hasil implementasi model di kelas pre-eksperimen dianalisis secara kuantitatif melalui uji statistik N-Gain. Berdasarkan metode yang digunakan, penelitian ini menemukan persepsi positif 29 Dosen PAI pada 22 PTU yang tersebar di 16 provinsi di Indonesia terhadap moderasi beragama dan best practice mereka dalam penerapan model pembelajaran untuk menginternalisasikan nilai-karakternya. Masih belum optimalnya pelaksanaan sintaks dan unsur di dalamnya dari model yang mereka terapkan merupakan realitas empirik dari praktik pembelajaran yang dilakukan. Di samping itu, persepsi mahasiswa terhadap mata kuliah PAI dan pengalaman pembelajaran yang mereka alami yang terangkum dalam komitmen akademik di lokasi pre-eksperimen juga menyoroti hal yang sama sehingga semakin menguatkan penyusunan rumusan konseptual model. Rumusan konseptual Model Literasi Agama/Religious Literacy Model dikembangkan berdasarkan pada filosofi dan teori PAI dalam kerangka Pendidikan Umum dan Karakter yang memposisikan agama Islam sebagai sumber nilai, sebagai elemen untuk untuk mewujudkan pencapaian tujuan nasional berbasis agama, dan menyukseskan membangun masyarakat moderat beragama. Melalui implementasi pre-eksperimen, model ini terbukti efektif mampu menginternalisasikan nilai-karakter moderasi beragama mahasiswa yang ditandai dengan peningkatan kemampuan literasi agama sehingga berdampak pada regulasi diri mereka terhadap empat indikator nilai-karakter moderasi beragama (komitmen kebangsaan, toleransi, anti kekerasan, dan penerimaan terhadap tradisi). Efektivitas tersebut dikuatkan melalui data peningkatan rata-rata pretes ke postes sebesar 32,4 angka, dengan persentase efektif sebesar 82,65%, dan tingkat efektivitas yang tinggi dengan perolehan nilai N-Gain 0,76. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) within the framework of General and Character Education in Indonesia is actually able to achieve the targets outlined by the state, namely strengthening the personality of moderately religious students based on the values of Islamic teachings. However, data shows that there are still students who have an understanding, attitude and behavior that is contra to religious moderation, and some of them have even been exposed to radicalism, extremism, and involved in terrorist movements. Several studies highlight that a learning process that is not yet optimal is an important factor that hinders the achievement of goals. By positioning PAI as General and Character Education, this research aims to develop a PAI learning model to internalize the character values of religious moderation in public university (PTU) students. This research chose an exploratory sequential mixed methods design so that questerview, interview, observation and documentation data were analyzed qualitatively (reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions), while the questionnaire data resulted from the implementation of the model in the pre-experimental class were analyzed quantitatively through the N-Gain statistical test. Based on the method used, this research found positive perceptions of 29 PAI lecturers at 22 PTUs spread across 16 provinces in Indonesia regarding their religious moderation and best practices in implementing learning models to internalize their character values. It is an empirical reality from the learning practices carried out that the implementation of the syntax and elements in the model that they apply is still not optimal. Apart from that, students’ perceptions of PAI courses and the learning experiences they experience which are summarized in academic commitment at the pre-experiment location also highlight the same thing, thus further strengthening the formulation of the conceptual model. The conceptual formulation of the Religious Literacy Model was developed based on PAI philosophy and theory within the framework of General and Character Education which positions Islam as a source of values, as an element for realizing the achievement of religion-based national goals and making it successful in building a religiously moderate society. Through pre-experimental implementation, this model was proven to be effective in internalizing students’ values of religious moderation characterized by increased religious literacy skills so that it had an impact on their self-regulation of four indicators of religious moderation character values (national commitment, tolerance, non-violence, and acceptance towards tradition). This effectiveness is confirmed by data on an average increase from pretest to posttest of 32.4 points, with an effective percentage of 82.65%, and a high level of effectiveness with an N-Gain value of 0.76.
