Abstract

Studi untuk menganalisis perkembangan konseptual siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) pada pembelajaran IPA dilakukan melalui peta konsep siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada mata pelajaran IPA biologi terhadap 76 siswa kelas 7 yang berasal dari dua kelas sampel. Peta konsep sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran diambil untuk melihat adakah perkembangan dari segi aspek peta konsepnya, kualitas peta konsepnya, dan kompleksitas struktur peta konsepnya pada materi sel serta ekosistem. Peta konsep kemudian dibandingkan dengan peta konsep acuan, kemudian dianalisis dan dibahas. Hasil analisis memperlihatkan peningkatan skor aspek peta konsep, terutama pada aspek hubungan silangnya. Peningkatan juga terlihat pada kualitas peta konsepnya yaitu kelas sampel 1 mendapat nilai persentase 17,4% (sangat rendah) menjadi 56,2% (sedang) pada materi sel dan 31,8% (rendah) menjadi 55,8% (sedang) pada materi ekosistem. Kelas sampel 2 mendapat nilai persentase 28,9% (rendah) menjadi 58,3% (sedang) pada materi sel dan 34,9% (rendah) menjadi 58,9% (sedang) pada materi ekosistem. Peningkatan kompleksitas struktur peta konsep dilakukan dengan mengelompokkannya ke dalam 3 tipe yakni Chain, Spoke, dan Net. Data menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kompleksitas struktur dari yang sederhana (Chain dan Spoke) menjadi lebih kompleks (Net) pada materi sel dan ekosistem. Kata kunci: peta konsep, perkembangan konseptual, materi sel dan ekosistem This study aims to analyze conceptual development of Junior High School in Science subject through students concept maps. The method that used in this study was descriptive method. This study was implemented in Science subject toward 76 students grade VII from two sample classes. Concept maps drawn before and after learning were taken to see is there any progress in terms of aspects of the concept maps, concept map quality, and complexity of the concept map structure in the cell concept as well as the ecosystem. Students' concept maps then were compared with reference concept maps, analyzed and discussed. The analysis result showed increased scores of concept map aspects, especially in cross link aspect. The increase was also seen in the quality of the concept map in class sample 1, the percentage value from 17,4% (very low) increased to 56,2% (average) in the cell concept and from 31,8% (low) to 55,8% (average) in the ecosystem concept. In class sample 2, the value of initial percentage was 28,9% (low) to to 58,3% (average) in the cell concept and in ecosystem concept from 34,9% (low) increased to 58,9% (average). The increasing of comcept map complexity are grouped into 3 types, such as chain, spoke, and net. The data showed an increase in the complexity of the concept map structure from the simple type (Chain and Spoke) became more complex (Net) in the cell and ecosystems concepts.
