Abstract
Kesulitan belajar merupakan hal yang umum ditemukan, seperti dalam pembelajaran bahasa Korea. Bagi mahasiswa yang berasal dari program studi bahasa Korea tentunya sudah terbiasa dengan strategi coping yang diterapkan untuk mengatasi kesulitan. Namun, bagi mahasiswa yang berasal dari non-program studi bahasa Korea, hal tersebut dapat menjadi tantangan tersendiri. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif eksploratif melalui instrumen angket dan wawancara mendalam, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan pembelajaran paling dominan yang dikategorikan berdasarkan Micro-skill dan Macro-skill, serta strategi coping yang paling sering digunakan berdasarkan teori Lazarus dan Folkman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesulitan pembelajaran yang paling sering ditemukan yakni sintaksis atau mun-jang-ron/thong-sa-ron (문장론/통사론) berdasarkan Micro-skill, dan berbicara atau malhagi (말하기) serta menulis atau sseugi (쓰기) berdasarkan Macro-skill. Timbulnya kesulitan tersebut didukung oleh faktor internal dan eksternal, seperti menurunnya motivasi, kurangnya buku pembelajaran, maupun tidak adanya ahli sebagai pendamping. Strategi coping yang paling sering digunakan yakni “Seeking Social Support” dengan melakukan validasi terhadap native maupun ahli untuk mengatasi kesulitan belajar, serta menerapkan “Positive Reappraisal” dengan memberi afirmasi positif pada diri sendiri. Pemilihan strategi coping tersebut didasari oleh faktor internal dan eksternal. Dari faktor internal ditemukan bahwa pembelajar telah menyesuaikan kapasitas kognisinya dengan rentang waktu pembelajaran, dan telah menyesuaikan jenis kecerdasaannya dengan sumber belajar yang dipilih. Dari faktor eksternal, sebagian besar pembelajar memiliki teman native yang dapat membantu pembelajaran bahasa Korea. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menambah wawasan bagi pembelajar bahasa Korea terkait kesulitan pembelajaran serta strategi coping yang dominan digunakan dalam mengatasi kesulitan tersebut, terutama di kalangan mahasiswa tanpa academic background berbahasa Korea. For students who come from Korean language study program, they might be familiar with the coping strategies applied to overcome difficulties. However, for students who come from non-Korean language study program, this can be a challenge. This exploratory qualitative study, employing questionnaires and in-depth interviews, aims to analyze the most prevalent learning difficulties categorized by micro-skill and macro-skill, as well as the most frequently used coping strategies based on Lazarus and Folkman's theory. The findings reveal that the most common learning difficulties are syntax or mun-jang-ron/thong-sa-ron (문장론/통사론) in micro-skill, and speaking or malhagi (말하기) also writing or sseugi (쓰기) in macro-skill. These difficulties are influenced by both internal and external factors, such as decreased motivation, a lack of learning materials, and lack of expert guidance. The most common coping strategies are "Seeking Social Support" by validating with native or experts to overcome learning difficulties, and "Positive Reappraisal" by providing self-affirmations. The choice of these strategies was also influenced by internal and external factors. Internally, learners adjusted their cognitive capacity to determine learning duration and aligning their intelligence types with selected learning resources. Externally, some of learners had native speaker friend who can assist in learning Korean. This study is expected to provide insights for Korean language learners, especially for college students without Korean language academic background, regarding common learning difficulties and dominant coping strategies. Keywords: Korean language, learning difficulties, language learning coping strategies, non-Korean study program students 언어 학습의 어려움은 흔한데, 그 중 하나가 한국어 학습이다. 한국어 전공 대학생들에게는 어려움을 극복하기 위해 적용되는 대처 전략에 익숙할 수 있다. 그러나 비한국어 전공 대학생들에게는 이것이 도전이 될 수 있다. 설문지와 심층 인터뷰를 사용하는 이 탐색적 질적 연구는 Micro-skill과 Macro-skill로 분류된 가장 일반적인 학습 어려움뿐만 아니라 Lazarus와 Folkman의 이론에 기반하여 가장 자주 사용되는 대처 전략을 분석하는 것을 목표로 한다. 연구 결과에 따르면 가장 흔한 학습 장애는 문장론/통사론 (Micro-skill의 경우), 말하기와 쓰기 (Macro-skill의 경우)이다. 이러한 어려움은 동기 부여 감소, 적절한 학습 자료의 부족, 전문가 안내의 부재와 같은 내적 및 외적 요인에 의해 영향을 받다. 모국어 화자나 전문가를 검증자로 하여 학습장애를 극복하는 “Seeking for Social Support”와 자기 긍정을 제공함으로써 "Positive Reappraisal"이다. 이러한 전략의 선택은 내적 요인과 외적 요인에 의해 영향을 받았다. 내적으로 학습자들은 학습자원을 결정하기 위해 자신의 지능유형을 조정하고 인지적 역량을 학습기간에 맞게 조정했다. 외부적으로 일부 학습자는 한국어 학습을 도울 수 있는 원어민 친구가 있었다. 이 연구는 한국어 학습자에게 특히 한국어 학력이 없는 대학생에게 공통 학습 어려움과 지배적인 대처 전략에 대한 통찰력을 제공할 것으로 기대된다. 키워드: 한국어, 언어학습의 어려움, 대처전략, 대학생, 비국어 전공
