Abstract

Berdasarkan hasil observasi, peneliti di kelas VIII-I SMP N 12 Bandung menemukan bahwa permasalahan yang ada adalah anggapan siswa terhadap mata pelajaran IPS sebagai mata pelajaran yang membosankan dan kurang nya etos kerja dalam proses belajar mengajar yang masih rendah. Ini terlihat dari kurangnya partisipasi siswa dalam kegiatan pembelajaran seperti bertanya, menanggapi, maupun menjawab pertanyaan dari guru. Melalui mata pelajaran IPS di jenjang SMP, setiap minat dan bakat siswa akan difasilitasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang penulis gunakan adalah wawancara, observasi, catatan lapangan, angket, lembar kerja siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pembelajaran dengan menggunakan metode simulasi dalam pembelajaran IPS berbasis minat dan bakat dapat meningkatkan etos kerja siswa. Berdasakan hasil penelitian ini disarankan untuk mengembangkan metode simulasi dalam pembelajaran IPS berbasis minat dan bakat dengan tampilan yang lebih khusus. Sehingga siswa temotivasi belajar IPS dan etos kerja siswa dapat meningkat. Kata Kunci : Metode Simulasi, dalam Pembelajaran Berbasis Minat dan bakat, Etos Kerja Siswa Based on observation finding, the researcher in grade VIII-I SMPN 12 Bandung found that the problem faced by the students is their perception toward social science as a boring subject and their less performance in teaching and learning process. It can be seen from the students’ less participation in classroom, for instance, is asking questions, responding to and answering the teacher’s questions. To solve the problem, the students’ interests and aptitudes will be facilitated through social science subject. This research used qualitative aproach with action research which was conducted in three cycles. Data collection techniques used in the research are interview, observation, file note-talking, questionnaires, and the students’ worksheet. The research found that simulation method used in social science learning based on the students’ interests and aptitudes can improve the students’ performance. Based on that, it is suggested to develop simulation method in learning social science based on the students’ interests and aptitudes as it can motivate the students to learn and improve their performance.
