Abstract

Dalam Matematika, diperlukan adanya pembelajaran melalui perbuatan dan pengertian, tidak hanya sekedar hafalan saja, karena hal ini akan mudah dilupakan siswa. Untuk mengatasi masalah diatas diperlukan suatu cara yang dapat digunakan oleh guru untuk merangsang siswa belajar secara aktif, yaitu dengan menggunakan media/alat peraga yang optimal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang terdiri atas dua siklus, dimana setiap siklus terdiri atas perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa setelah menggunakan media karton persegi satuan pada materi menghitung luas bangun datar pada siswa kelas III di SDN 7 Cibogo Kecamatan Lembang Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Nilai rata-rata kelas meningkat dari 6,24 pada siklus I menjadi 8,41 pada siklus II. Selain itu, terjadi pula peningkatan persentase ketuntasan 59,2% pada siklus I menjadi 92,6% pada siklus II. Kata Kunci: media karton persegi satuan, pemahaman konsep, luas bangun datar In mathematics, learning is not only a matter of remembering, learning by doing and understanding is needed so that the learning will be useful and not easily forgotten by the students. To solve the problem, teachers need employ a strategy to stimulate the students to learn actively, it is by using an optimum media. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research which involved two cycles, in which each cycle was composed of the planning, process, observation, and reflection. This research aimed to investigate the improvement of students’ conceptual understanding after using the media Karton Persegi Satuan which was applied in the teaching of measuring the area of model superficial in third grade students in SDN 7 Cibogo Kecamatan Lembang Kabupaten Bandung Barat. The mean score of the students improved from 6,24 in the first cycle to 8,41 in the second cycle. Besides, there was also an improvement in the passing percentage of the students from 59,2% in the first cycle to 92,6% in the second cycle.
