Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji apakah penilaian kognitif stress dalam membina relasi dengan lawan jenis berpengaruh terhadap self-esteem pada remaja yang mengalami putus hubungan romantis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 281 remaja dengan rentang usia 18-23 tahun dan mengalami putus hubungan romantis dalam 3 bulan terakhir. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan Analisis Regresi Linier Sederhana dengan bantuan aplikasi software IBM SPSS 29. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini untuk variabel independen adalah instrumen The Stress Appraisal Measure (SAM) oleh Edward J. Peacock & Paul T. P. Wong (1989) dengan jumlah item sebanyak 71 item. Sementara instrumen yang digunakan pada variabel dependen adalah kuisioner self-esteem yang disusun oleh Pratiwi Rahma (2023) dengan jumlah item sebanyak 14 item. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya pengaruh penilaian kognitif stress dalam membina relasi dengan lawan jenis terhadap self-esteem. This study aims to test whether cognitive stress appraisal in building relationship with the opposite sex influences self-esteem in adolescents who experienced the end of a romantic relationship. This study used a quantative approach with a total of 281 participants who are adolescents aged 18-23 years old who had experienced the end of a romantic relationship in the last 3 months. The data analysis technique in this study used the Simple Linear Regression Analysis through the IBM SPSS 29 software application. The instrument that used for the independent variable in this study is the Stress Appraisal Measure (SAM) instrument by Edward J. Peacock & Paul T. P. Wong (1989) with a total of 71 items. Meanwhile, for the dependent variable in this study used the Self-Esteem questionnaire compiled by Pratiwi Rahma (2023) with a total of 14 items. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of cognitive appraisal of self-ability in building relationship with the opposite sex on self-esteem.
