Abstract
This research background comes from the weak critical thinking skills of students in the 21st century era, which demands high critical thinking skills and also the demand to develop learning that combines science and technology. Based on this background, research was conducted regarding the use of a web-based inquiry model to improve students' critical thinking skills on the topic of environmental change. This research used a pre-experiment method with a one-group pre-test and post-test research design. The instrument for measuring the increase in critical thinking skills uses essay questions that represent six indicators of critical thinking skills, such as interpretation, evaluation, inference, explanation, analysis, and self-regulation. In this study, the sample consisted of 25 students from class X of senior high school who had not studied environmental change material at all. The data obtained was analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and also N-gain to see the amount of improvement experienced by students. The Wilcoxon test result is worth 0.000, and the N-gain test is worth 0.650. The results of this test can be interpreted as indicating that the web-based inquiry model has succeeded in improving students' critical thinking skills in environmental change material, although the improvement experienced is still in the moderate category.
