Abstract

Skripsi ini berjudul “Transformasi Tradisi Babarit di Desa Bunigeulis Kecamatan
Hantara Kabupaten Kuningan Tahun 2007-2022”. Babarit merupakan tradisi masyarakat
Sunda yang berfungsi sebagai tolak bala dan ungkapan rasa syukur kepada Tuhan atas
tumbuhnya padi di sawah. Alasan penulis mengkaji tradisi ini adalah karena terjadinya
perubahan dalam tradisi Babarit di Desa Bunigeulis pada tahun 2007 berupa penambahan
rangkaian acara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pelaksanaan tradisi Babarit
di Desa Bunigeulis sebelum tahun 2007, mendeksripsikan perubahan yang terjadi pada
tradisi Babarit tahun 2007, mendeksripsikan dinamika yang terjadi dalam tradisi Babarit
dari tahun 2007-2022, dan menganalisis upaya pelestarian yang dilakukan oleh
pemerintah dan masyarakat setempat terhadap tradisi Babarit. Metode yang digunakan
adalah metode penelitian sejarah yang meliputi tahapan heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan
historiografi. Adapun teknik yeng digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah melalui
studi pustaka, studi dokumentasi, dan wawancara. Berdasarkan penelitian ini penulis
berhasil menemukan beberapa temuan. Pertama, pelaksanaan tradisi Babarit sebelum
tahun 2007 hanyalah Ngukus, Sembah Sujud ke Arah 4 Penjuru, Mamaca, Makan
Bersama, dan Nyungsung. Kedua, setelah perubahaan terjadi penambahan rangkaian
acara yaitu menjadi Ngukus, Sembah Sujud ke Arah 4 Penjuru, Mamaca, Shalat Magrib
Berjamaah, Tawassul, Membaca Surat Yasin, Makan Bersama, dan Nyungsung. Ketiga, dinamika yang terjadi dalam tradisi Babarit dapat diuraikan dalam tiga periode pimpinan
kepala desa. Keempat, upaya pelestarian yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah setempat adalah
dengan merumuskan kebijakan pelestarian kebudayaan, sementara itu upaya dari
masyarakat adalah dengan senantiasa menyediakan kebutuhan agar Babarit dapat
dilaksanakan setiap tahunnya. This thesis is entitled "Transformation of the Babarit Tradition in Bunigeulis Village, Hantara District, Kuningan Regency, 2007-2022". Babarit is a Sundanese tradition that
functions as a source of reinforcements and an expression of gratitude to God for the
growth of rice in the rice fields. The reason the author studied this tradition was because
there was a change in the Babarit tradition in Bunigeulis Village in 2007 in the form of
the addition of a series of events. This research aims to explain the implementation of the
Babarit tradition in Bunigeulis Village before 2007, describe the changes that occurred
in the Babarit tradition in 2007, describe the dynamics that occurred in the Babarit
tradition from 2007-2022, and analyze the conservation efforts carried out by the
government and local community towards Babarite tradition. The method used is a
historical research method which includes heuristic, criticism, interpretation and
historiography stages. The techniques used in collecting data are through literature study, documentation study, and interviews. Based on this research, the author managed to find
several findings. First, the implementation of the Babarit tradition before 2007 was only
Ngukus, Prostrate Worship towards the 4 Corners, Mamaca, Eating Together, and
Nyungsung. Second, after the changes there was an addition to the series of events, namely Ngukus, Prostrations to the 4 Directions, Mamaca, Congregational Maghrib
Prayer, Tawassul, Reading Surah Yasin, Eating Together, and Nyungsung. Third, the
dynamics that occur in the Babarit tradition can be described in three periods of village
head leadership. Fourth, the conservation efforts carried out by the local government are
by formulating cultural preservation policies, while the efforts of the community are to
always provide the necessities so that Babarit can be implemented every year.
