Abstract

Hypertension is a disease characterized by increased systolic and diastolic blood pressure, or the use of antihypertensive drugs. Hypertension has complications in the type of diseases that target organs, such as the brain, kidneys, peripheral blood vessels, and heart. This requires effective treatment by considerations of effective treatment. Pharmacological management of hypertension has adverse drug-related problems (DRPs) where undesired long-term effects can occur. This leads to non-pharmacological interventions becoming a recommended alternative. The utilization of fruits is part of non-pharmacological interventions, one of which is the consumption of cucumber juice and tomato juice. This study aims to identify further studies through systematic review research on the comparison of the effectiveness of cucumber juice with tomato juice on lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The research method used was a systematic review by identifying and evaluating literature with a quasi-experiment research design in line with predetermined eligibility criteria. The databases used included the Cochrane Library, DOAJ, Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct, and Semantic Scholar. Relevant articles were quality assessed with JBI Critical appraisal. The results of the study found 11 relevant articles with predetermined criteria. The selected articles had a low risk of bias after quality assessment. 11 articles showed that cucumber juice and tomato juice were effective based on the intervention procedure and significance reduction. There was no difference in the effectiveness of cucumber juice and tomato juice on blood pressure reduction. Both interventions had effectiveness as hypertension treatment.
