Abstract
Kata kunci: Konstruksi Narasi, Antivaksin, Tekstual, Visual, Audiovisual, Tagar, Facebook, Etnografi Virtual The issue of vaccination and antivaccine has always existed from time to time and has increasingly risen to the surface during a pandemic. Even though the pandemic has now subsided, vaccine prevention campaigns are often carried out on social media, especially in Facebook. This happens because interactions between antivaccine have increased since computer mediated communications appear. This study aims to determine the polarization of antivaccine narrative construction on Facebook textually, visually, and audiovisually in both explicit and implicit aspects. To achieve this goal, the researcher uses a qualitative approach with virtual ethnography methods. Field data was obtained from textual analysis and nonparticipant observation of antivaccine contents on vaccine rejection hashtags on Facebook. The results of the study show that textual construction is the form most promoted by antivaccine in vaccine prevention campaigns. Meanwhile, visual and audiovisual constructions are supporting forms and cannot stand alone without textual. Implicitly, the aspects of ‘distrust to the government’ and ‘distrust to the vaccine effectiveness’ are the most frequently found in both textual, visual, and audiovisual constructions. Another interesting finding in the existence of a defense mechanisms that antivaccine show when they feel threatened. There are four defense mechanisms which are denial, projection, intellectualization, and displacement. The results of this study describe the concept of polarization of antivaccine narrative construction of Facebook in textual, visual, and audiovisual forms, both explicitly and implicitly. The concept is expected to provide understanding to parties who are opposed to the existence of antivaccine.
