Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang penerapan diferensiasi metode pembelajaran dalam pembelajaran biologi khususnya materi perubahan lingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi siswa setelah diterapkannya diferensiasi metode pembelajaran pada materi perubahan lingkungan. Peningkatan keterampilan komunikasi tulisan diukur menggunakan Pretest dan Posttest yang disusun berdasarkan framework keterampilan abad ke-21 yang disusun oleh Partnership for 21 st Century Skills (2015). Diferensiasi metode pembelajaran dalam penelitian ini mengacu pada diferensiasi proses untuk memfasilitasi gaya belajar siswa. Metode pembelajaran yang diterapkan adalah metode ceramah untuk memfasilitasi gaya belajar auditori, metode demonstrasi untuk memfasilitasi gaya belajar visual, dan metode praktikum untuk memfasilitasi gaya belajar kinestetik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan untuk mengukur keterampilan komunikasi tertulis adalah Pre-experimental dengan desain penelitian One Group Pretest -Posttest Design yang dilakukan pada satu kelas dengan jumlah sebanyak 28 siswa. Sedangkan untuk mengukur keterampilan komunikasi lisan digunakan One Shot Case Study. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah butir soal Pretest Posttest keterampilan komunikasi tertulis yang berjumlah 5 butir soal esai, lembar observasi keterampilan komunikasi lisan, serta angket respon siswa terhadap penerapan diferensiasi metode pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan keterampilan komunikasi tertulis sebesar 0,29 dengan kategori rendah. Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa siswa dengan gaya belajar kinestetik memiliki keterampilan komunikasi lisan yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan gaya belajar auditori dan visual. Hasil angket respons siswa juga menunjukkan respon yang positif terhadap penerapan diferensiasi metode pembelajaran. The purpose of this study was to improve students' communication skills after the implementation of differentiation of learning methods on environmental change material. The improvement of written communication skills was measured using Pretest and Posttest which were prepared based on the 21st century skills framework prepared by Partnership for 21st Century Skills (2015). Differentiation of learning methods in this study refers to process differentiation to facilitate students' learning styles. The learning methods applied were lecture method to facilitate auditory learning style, demonstration method to facilitate visual learning style, and practicum method to facilitate kinesthetic learning style. The research method used to measure written communication skills is Pre-experimental with One Group Pretest -Posttest Design research design conducted in one class with a total of 28 students. Meanwhile, to measure oral communication skills, One Shot Case Study was used. The research instruments used were written communication skills Pretest Posttest items totaling 5 essay questions, oral communication skills observation sheets, and student response questionnaires to the application of differentiation of learning methods. The results of this study showed that there was an increase in written communication skills by 0.29 with a low category. In addition, it was found that students with kinesthetic learning styles had higher oral communication skills compared to auditory and visual learning styles. The results of the student response questionnaire also showed a positive response to the application of differentiation of learning methods.
