Abstract

Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan tentang pelaksanaan teknik reading assessment yang digunakan dalam keterampilan membaca bahasa Inggris di kelas V sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini juga mendeskripsikan mengenai ada atau tidaknya proses perencanaan, pelaksanaan serta tindak lanjut dari reading assessment yang dilakukan oleh guru dalam keterampilan membaca. Latar belakang penelitian ini berdasarkan dari hasil studi menyatakan bahwa pada dasarnya guru bahasa Inggris di sekolah dasar sudah melaksanakan reading assessment, namun peneliti tertarik untuk mengetahui lebih detail mengenai pelaksanaan teknik reading assessment yang digunakan oleh guru dalam keterampilan membaca. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode kualitatif deskriptif dimana hasilnya dipaparkan dalam bentuk kata-kata. Dalam perencanaan reading assessment guru melakukan pertimbangan berdasarkan SK, KD dan indikator yang harus dicapai oleh siswa, guru membuat reading assessment disesuaikan dengan karakteristik siswa dan kesesuaian dengan materi yang telah dipelajari, serta guru memilih teknik reading assessment yang sesuai untuk digunakan. Dalam pelaksanaan guru melakukan reading assessment sesuai dengan yang telah direncanakan, serta guru melakukan penilaian. Sedangkan tindak lanjut yang diberikan guru kepada siswa yang belum mencapai nilai ketuntasan minimal yaitu dengan melakukan remedial. Jadi, pada dasarnya guru sudah melakukan teknik reading assessment diantaranya yaitu dengan menggunakan pilihan ganda (multiple choice), isian singkat (short written answer), teks/kalimat rumpang (cloze and gap filling tasks), menyusun kata (arrange the words), benar atau salah (true or false), menjodohkan (matching items), dan mencocokkan gambar (matching picture). Kata Kunci : penilaian, penilaian membaca. This study describe the implementation techniques of reading assessment used in English reading skill at fifth grade of primary school. The background of this research is based on the results of the study stated that basically English teachers in primary schools has already implemented. However, I am interested to knowing more about reading assessment techniques used by teachers in reading skills. The method is descriptive qualitative method in which results are presented in the form of words. The reading assessment based on SK, KD and indicators, the should be achieved by student. The subject were English teacher and student. The data were collected through observation, interview and document. And the result shows that the teacher makes reading assessments customized to the students' characteristics and suitability of the material has been studied, and teachers choose reading assessment techniques appropriate for use. The teacher did the reading assessment based on the planned. The teacher didi remedial for student who had not reached KKM. So, basically the teacher applied multiple choice, short answer, cloze and gap filling tasks, arrange the words, true or fals, matching item, and matching picture.
