Abstract
ABSTRAK Skripsi ini berjudul "Perkembangan Industri Genteng dan Dampaknya Terhadap Kehidupan Sosial Ekonomi Masyarakat Kecamatan Plered Tahun 1980-2017." Industri genteng Plered merupakan salah satu sektor perkonomian lokal masyarakat Kecamatan Plered yang sudah ada sejak tahun 1905. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keinginan untuk memahami bagaimana industri genteng di Kecamatan Plered dapat bertahan hingga saat ini dalam menghadapi persaingan atap bangunan berbahan asbes dan metal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki sejarah perkembangan industri genteng di Kecamatan Plered, mengidentifikasi upaya yang dilakukan dalam mengembangkan industri genteng, dan menganalisis dampaknya terhadap kehidupan sosial ekonomi masyarakat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode historis dengan menggunakan langkah-langkah heuristik, kritik sumber internal dan eksternal, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Berdasarkan penelitian ini penulis menemukan beberapa hasil penelitian Pertama menunjukkan bahwa industri genteng di Kecamatan Plered mencapai puncaknya pada tahun 1980-an, namun menghadapi berbagai tantangan seperti penurunan permintaan akibat adopsi bahan atap alternatif berbahan asbes dan metal. Dampaknya. Kedua, mencakup perubahan signifikan dalam pola mata pencaharian dan tradisi generasi para pengrajin, sekaligus memberikan kontribusi positif melalui penciptaan peluang kerja. Ketiga, memberikan wawasan mendalam tentang cara industri tersebut telah beradaptasi dan bertransformasi selama periode waktu yang panjang. Upaya pengrajin dalam mempertahankan industri genteng juga terlihat melalui strategi pemasaran produk, diversifikasi produk, dan pemberian nama merek "JTW" (Jalan Tegal Waru), mencerminkan kreativitas dan adaptasi industri terhadap dinamika pasar. Dengan pemahaman ini, diharapkan penelitian ini dapat memberikan sumbangan penting bagi pengembangan industri kecil lokal serta memberikan informasi yang berharga bagi kebijakan pembangunan ekonomi dan sosial di tingkat lokal. Kata Kunci: Perkembangan Industri Genteng, Kecamatan Plered, Dampak Sosial Ekonomi ABSTRACT This thesis is entitled "The Development of the Roof Tile Industry and Its Impact on the Socio-Economic Life of the Plered Subdistrict Community in 1980-2017." The Plered roof tile industry is one of the local economic sectors of the Plered Subdistrict community that has existed since 1905. This research is motivated by the desire to understand how the roof tile industry in Plered Subdistrict can survive until today in the face of competition from asbestos and metal roofs. This study aims to investigate the history of the development of the roof tile industry in Plered Sub-district, identify the efforts made in developing the roof tile industry, and analyze its impact on the socio-economic life of the community. The research method used is the historical method using the steps of heuristics, internal and external source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Based on this research, the author found several research results. First, it shows that the roof tile industry in Plered Sub-district reached its peak in the 1980s, but faced various challenges such as decreased demand due to the adoption of alternative roofing materials made of asbestos and metal. Impact. Secondly, it includes significant changes in the livelihood patterns and generational traditions of the artisans, while making a positive contribution through the creation of employment opportunities.Third, it provides deep insight into the way the industry has adapted and transformed over a long period of time. The craftsmen's efforts in maintaining the roof tile industry are also seen through product marketing strategies, product diversification, and the naming of the brand "JTW" (Jalan Tegal Waru), reflecting the industry's creativity and adaptation to market dynamics. With this understanding, it is hoped that this study can make an important contribution to the development of local small industries and provide valuable information for economic and social development policies at the local level.
