Abstract

Permasalahan dalam pendidikan yang ditemui oleh peneliti bahwa terdapat siswa yang kurang berkonsentrasi saat pembelajaran. Data konkrit menyebutkan bahwa konsentrasi siswa bertahan selama 15-20 menit pembelajaran, selanjutnya fokus mereka terpecah karena berbagai gangguan yang terdapat dalam diri dan lingkungannya sehingga menyebabkan materi yang disampaikan guru tidak dipahami dengan baik dan menyebabkan kesulitan dalam mencapaikeberhasilan belajar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendapat gambaran perbedaan rata￾rata tingkat konsentrasi peserta didik yang sebelum dan yang sudah diberi perlakuan senam otak, serta untuk mendapat gambaran seberapa efektif peningkatan konsentrasi pada peserta didik sesudah diberi perlakuan senam otak. Dari total 26 gerakan senam otak yang telah diciptakan dan dikembangkan oleh Paul dan Gail E. Dennison, peneliti telah meringkas dan memilih hanya 6 gerakan dengan harapan bisa dijadikan acuan gerakan yang mudah untuk diingat dan diterapkan. Sampel yang dipilih yaitu seluruh siswa kelas V SDN 1 Cimarga berjumlah 51 orang. Perlakuan senam otak berlangsung selama satu pekan pembelajaran di sekolah dengan durasi 30 menit sebelum kelas dimulai. Penelitian kuantitatif dengan pre-eksperimental desain one group pretest and posttest memberikan tes awal dan tes akhir hanya pada satu kelompok dan menggunakan instrumen baku yang terstandar yaitu tes kotak konsentrasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima bahwa terdapat perbedaan rata-rata skor hasil pretes dan hasil postes dengan selisih 6,1441, dan menghasilkan skor N-Gain 0,680 atau presentasenya 6,7975% yang membuktikan bahwa senam otak untuk meningkatkan konsentrasi berada pada tingkat sedang dengan kategori cukup efektif. The problem in education encountered by researchers is that there are students who lack concentration during learning. Concrete data states that student concentration lasts for 15-20 minutes of learning, then their focus is divided due to various disturbances contained within themselves and their environment, causing the material conveyed by the teacher to not be understood properly and causing difficulties in achieving learning success. The purpose of this study is to get an overview of the average difference in the concentration level of students who are before and who have been treated with brain gym, and to get an overview of how effective the increase in concentration in students after being treated with brain gym. From a total of 26 brain exercise movements that have been created and developed by Paul and Gail E. Dennison, researchers have summarized and selected only 6 movements in the hope that they can be used as a reference movement that is easy to remember and apply. The sample selected was all fifth grade students of SDN 1 Cimarga totaling 51 students. The brain gym treatment took place during one week of learning at school with a duration of 30 minutes before class began. Quantitative research with pre-experimental design one group pretest and posttest experimental design provides an initial test and final test in only one group and uses standardized instruments, namely the concentration box test. The results showed that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted that there is a difference in the average score of the pretest results and post-test results with a difference of 6.1441, and produced an N-Gain score of 0.680 or a percentage of 6.7975% which proved that brain exercises to improve concentration were at a moderate level with a fairly effective category.
