Abstract

Pembelajaran merupakan komponen pendidikan terpenting dalam usaha mencetak sumber daya manusia yang mampu berdaya saing di setiap sektor kehidupan. Salah satu modal menghadapi persaingan dunia salah satunya adalah kemampuan berpikir kritis. Kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran di kelas tergolong rendah, hal ini karena siswa cenderung pasif, dan model pembelajaran yang digunakan oleh guru kurang variatif. Perlu adanya stimulus sebagai upaya mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis melalui model pembelajaran project based learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model project based learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Pendekatan penelitian ini yaitu kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian kuasi eksperimen. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMK Negeri 1 Warunggunung, yaitu kelas XI APAT 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI APAT 2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pengumpulan data tes yaitu (pretest & posttest) dan metode non tes yaitu (observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model ini memiliki pengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa hal ini ditunjukkan dengan hasil uji hipotesis yang menggunakan uji-t memiliki nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,002. Selain itu, terjadi peningkatan dalam kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang dapat dilihat dari nilai gain sebesar 0,576 di kelas eksperimen, yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang, sementara kelas kontrol yang menggunakan model konvensional hanya mencapai 0,317 yang termasuk dalam kategori rendah. Hasil analisis respon siswa dalam angket juga menunjukkan persentase rata-rata dari ketiga indikatornya yaitu 93%, yang termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik. Data ini menunjukkan bahwa model ini memiliki dampak yang lebih positif terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dibandingkan dengan model konvensional. Learning is the most important component of education in an effort to produce human resources that are able to compete in every sector of life. One of the ways to face world competition is the ability to think critically. Students' critical thinking skills in classroom learning are low, this is because students tend to be passive, and the learning models used by teachers are less varied. There needs to be a stimulus as an effort to develop critical thinking skills through a project-based learning model. This study aims to determine the effect of project-based learning models on students' critical thinking skills. This research approach is quantitative with a quasi-experimental research design. The samples in this study were students of SMK Negeri 1 Warunggunung, namely class XI APAT 1 as the experimental class and XI APAT 2 as the control class. This research uses test data collection methods, namely (pretest & posttest) and non-test methods, namely (observation, questionnaire, and documentation). The results showed that this model has an influence on students' critical thinking skills, this is indicated by the results of hypothesis testing using the t-test which has a significance value of 0.002. In addition, there was an increase in students' critical thinking skills which can be seen from the gain value of 0.576 in the experimental class, which is included in the medium category, while the control class using the conventional model only reached 0.317 which is included in the low category. The results of the analysis of student responses in the questionnaire also showed an average percentage of the three indicators of 93%, which is included in the excellent category. This data shows that this model has a more positive impact on students' critical thinking skills than the conventional method. Keywords: project-based learning; critical thinking skills.
