Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis preferensi politik mahasiswa Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. pada calon kandidat presiden dalam Pemilihan Presiden 2024 ditinjau dari Perskpektif Civics Participation. Partisipasi politik dalam suatu negara yang menganut demokrasi adalah indikator rakyat menjalankan kekuasaan negara yang sah (kedaulatan rakyat) sebesar-besarnya, yang dinyatakan dengan keikutsetaan mereka dalam anggota partai politik maupun pada saat pemilihan umum serentak. Semakin meninggi partisipasi politik, semakin banyak warga negara memahami, ikut, dan berpartisipasi dalam tindakan pemerintah. Populasi pemilih pemula diprediksi bakal mencapai sekitar 60% dari total pemilih pada Pemilu 2024. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti berusaha melakukan pengkajian secara sistematis dan mendalam terhadap pemilihan presiden Indonesia yang akan dilaksanakan pada tahun 2024. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kualitatif dengan didukung oleh metode studi kasus. Untuk mendukung pendekatan dan metode tersebut, peneliti menggunakan teknik wawancara, observasi, studi dokumentasi dan studi literatur sebagai sumber data penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat setidaknya dua faktor yakni internal dan eksternal yang mempengaruhi preferensi politik mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar bagi calon kandidat presiden dan partai politik untuk memahami lebih baik preferensi pemilih muda dan merancang strategi kampanye yang lebih efektif dalam menarik dukungan dari kalangan mahasiswa. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga dapat memberikan sumbangan terhadap pemahaman kita tentang partisipasi kewarganegaraan dan peran mahasiswa dalam sistem demokrasi di Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the political preferences of students of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. on presidential candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election reviewed from the Civics Participation Perspective. Political participation in a country that adheres to democracy is an indicator of the people exercising the maximum legitimate state power (people's sovereignty), which is expressed by their participation in members of political parties and during simultaneous elections. The higher the political participation, the more citizens understand, follow, and participate in government actions. The first-time voter population is predicted to reach around 60% of the total voters in the 2024 election. In this study, researchers tried to conduct a systematic and in-depth study of the Indonesian presidential election to be held in 2024. The approach used in this research uses qualitative supported by the case study method. To support these approaches and methods, researchers use interviews, observations, documentation studies and literature studies as sources of research data. The results of this study show that there are at least two factors, namely internal and external, that influence students' political preferences. The results of this study are expected to be the basis for presidential candidates and political parties to better understand the preferences of young voters and design campaign strategies that are more effective in attracting support from students. In addition, this research can also contribute to our understanding of civic participation and the role of students in the democratic system in Indonesia.
