Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini berjudul “Perkembangan Pers Berbahasa Sunda Sipatahoenan Di Bandung Tahun 1931-1942”. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode historis yaitu meliputi empat langkah penelitian sejarah diantaranya, heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tiga permasalahan pokok yaitu: 1) latar belakang lahirnya surat kabar Sipatahoenan 2) peranan para pemimpin redaktur dalam mengembangkan surat kabar Sipatahoenan (1931-1942), 3) peranan surat kabar Sipatahoenan sebagai media pendidikan Bahasa Sunda. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat dijelaskan bahwa latarbelakang berdirinya Sipatahoenan dilatarbelakangi oleh kepentingan dari organisasi Paguyuban Pasundan untuk menjadikan surat kabar sebagai media perjuangan pergerakan dan juga sebagai propaganda nilai-nilai kebangsaan kepada masyarakat khususnya ditatar Sunda. Keberhasilan surat kabar Sipatahoenan yang bisa bertahan cukup lama dibandingkan dengan usia surat kabar berbahasa daerah lainnya, tidak terlepas dari peranan para redaktur yang membawa kemajuan bagi Sipatahoenan. Diantaranya adalah Bakrie Soeraatmadja dan Mohammad Koerdi. Selain sebagai pemimpin redaktur, kedua tokoh ini aktif juga memberikan kontribusi tulisan-tulisannya yang menjadi daya tarik pembacanya, sehingga Sipatahoenan menjadi surat kabar yang terus langgeng dengan jumlah pembaca yang selalu setia berlangganan. Sipatahoenan memuat berbagai wacana dari berbagai aspek yang ada di lingkungan masyarakat, diantaranya pendidikan, politik, sosial budaya, dan ekonomi. Sipatahoenan dikenal sebagai surat kabar yang berani memberitakan isu-isu yang sangat sensitif dan kadang menyinggung pemerintah kolonial Belanda. Namun, hal itulah yang menjadi salah satu faktor mengapa Sipatahoenan menjadi surat kabar yang dicintai oleh para pembacanya. Sehingga Sipatahoenan bisa bertahan cukup lama sebagai surat kabar daerah. Kata Kunci: Pendidikan Bahasa Sunda, Sipatahoenan, Surat Kabar Daerah ABSTRACT This research is entitled "The Development of the Sipatahoenan Sundanese Language Press: The Funnel of the Movement of the Pasundan Association in 1923-1942". The researcher examines the problem using historical methods, which include four steps of historical research including heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. This paper aims to describe three main issues, namely: 1) the background of the birth of the Sipatahoenan newspaper (1931-1942), 2) the role of the chief editors in developing the Sipatahoenan newspaper (1931-1942), 3) the role of the Sipatahoenan newspaper in introducing Sundanese culture and literatur. Based on the results of the research, it can be explained that the background to the founding of Sipatahoenan was motivated by the interests of the Paguyuban Pasundan organization to make newspapers a media for movement struggles and also as propaganda for national values to the people, especially at the Sundanese level. The success of the Sipatahoenan newspaper, which has survived for quite a long time compared to the age of other regional language newspapers, is inseparable from the role of the editors who have brought progress to Sipatahoenan. Among them are Bakrie Soeraatmadja and Mohammad Koerdi. Aside from being editor-in-chief, these two figures actively contributed to their writings which attracted their readers, so that Sipatahoenan became a long-lasting newspaper with loyal readers. Sipatahoenan contains various discourses from various aspects in society, including education, politics, socio-culture, and economy. Sipatahoenan was known as a newspaper that dared to report on very sensitive issues and sometimes offended the Dutch colonial government. However, that is one of the factors why Sipatahoenan is a newspaper that is loved by its readers. So that Sipatahoenan can survive long enough as a regional newspaper.
