Abstract

Proses pembelajaran dalam dunia pendidikan perlu dilakukan pembaharuan untuk dapat mendorong siswa mengembangkan kemampuan berpikirnya. Penerapan model pembelajaran yang digunakan pada mata pelajaran Mekanika Teknik untuk siswa kelas X DPIB di SMK Pekerjaan Umum Negeri Bandung kurang dapat memaksimalkan hasil belajar siswa. Sehingga, selain model pembelajaran diperlukan juga adanya alternatif layout ruang kelas yang dapat membuat siswa aktif berpartisipasi dalam proses pembelajaran. Maka dari itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari tahu bagaimana penerapan model pembelajaran Snowball Throwing dengan layout ruang kelas model huruf U untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Quasi Experiment dengan bentuk Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan instrumen tes berupa Pre-test dan Post-test pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, serta lembar observasi pada kelas eksperimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan hasil belajar siswa menggunakan model pembelajaran Snowball Throwing lebih tinggi daripada yang tidak menggunakannya. Hasil analisis N-Gain juga menunjukkan bahwa kelas eksperimen mendapat peningkatan hasil belajar sebesar 63% yang masuk pada kategori cukup efektif. Sedangkan pada kelas kontrol peningkatan hasil belajar yang didapat adalah sebesar 44% yang masuk pada kategori kurang efektif. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis dengan uji Independent Sample T-Test disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan signifikan rata-rata peningkatan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran Snowball Throwing dengan layout ruang kelas model huruf U dengan siswa yang tidak menggunakannya di SMK Pekerjaan Umum Negeri Bandung. The learning process in the world of education needs to be renewed to be able to encourage students to develop their thinking skills. The application of the learning model used in Engineering Mechanics for class X DPIB students at the Bandung State Public Works Vocational School is less able to maximize student learning outcomes. So, in addition the learning model, it is also necessary to have alternative classroom layouts that can make students actively participate in the learning process. Therefore, this study aims to find out how the application of the Snowball Throwing learning model with the U-type classroom layout can improve student learning outcomes. This research was conducted using the Quasi Experiment method in the form of Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Data collection was carried out using test instruments in the form of pre-test and post-test in the experimental class and control class, as well as observation sheets in the experimental class. The results showed that the improvement in learning outcomes of students who were taught using the Snowball Throwing learning model was higher than those who did not use it. The results of the N-Gain analysis also showed that the experimental class received an increase in learning outcomes by 63% which was in the quite effective category. Whereas in the control class the increase in learning outcomes obtained was 44% which was included in the less effective category. Based on hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample T-Test, it was concluded that there was a significant difference in the average increase in learning outcomes for students who used the Snowball Throwing learning model with a U-style classroom layout and students who did not use it at the Bandung State Public Works Vocational School.
