Abstract

Platinum Group Metals/PGMs (Logam Golongan Platina) merupakan golongan logam yang mulai banyak digunakan belakangan ini karena fungsinya sebagai katalis, agen anti korosi, dan penggunaan lainnya berdasarkan sifat stabilitas termoelektriknya. PGMs terdiri dari enam unsur kimia yang mirip yakni iridium, osmium, paladium, platinum, rhodium dan rutenium. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pelindi EILs (Eutectic Based Ionic Liquids/Cairan Ionik Eutektik) sebagai pelindi logam golongan platina beserta parameter optimal untuk pelindian yang dilakukan. Pelindian dilakukan dengan mencampurkan 0.8gram sampel yang telah dijadikan serbuk dengan EILs kolin klorida-asam oksalat pada Tabung Schlenk dan dipanaskan menggunakan hotplate dengan penangas pasir. Parameter pemanasan yang dijadikan variasi adalah suhu, waktu, dan rasio L/S. Variasi suhu dilakukan pada 60, 70, dan 80°C; variasi waktu pada 24, 36, 48, dan 72 jam; dan variasi rasio L/S 10, 15, 20, 25 mL/g. Sampel yang telah dilindi diambil residunya, kemudian residu yang telah dicuci dan dikeringkan diukur menggunakan XRF, SEM, dan XRD untuk memperoleh data hasil pelindian. Variasi dengan hasil paling optimal ditunjukkan saat proses pelindian berjalan dengan parameter suhu 80°C, rasio L/S 20 mL/g, serta pemanasan yang dilakukan selama 72 jam dan pengadukan pada 500rpm pada hotplate dengan magnetic stirrer. Pada parameter ini, hasil ekstraksi yang didapat adalah Pd: 49.68%; Pt: 85.63%%; dan Rh: 51.70%. Ketiga parameter yang digunakan dibuktikan berpengaruh terhadap hasil pelindian. Parameter yang paling berpengaruh pada hasil pelindian adalah suhu dimana pada setiap variasi yang berbeda, variasi suhu memberikan perubahan yang sangat signifikan terhadap hasil pelindian sampel. Setelah diuji menggunakan SEM, perubahan hanya terlihat pada permukaan sampel yang terkikis dan menjadi lebih halus, namun tidak ada perubahan signifikan terhadap distribusi unsur pada sampel. Dengan adanya penelitian ini, diharapkan memberi pengetahuan mengenai EILs dan proses sintesisnya, serta proses pelindian PGMs dari limbah catalytic converter pada auto-catalysts menggunakan EILs sehingga didapatkan logam bernilai tinggi. Platinum Group Metals/PGMs (Platina Group Metals) are a group of metals that have started to be widely used recently due to their function as catalysts, anti-corrosion agents, and other uses based on their thermoelectric stability properties. PGMs consist of six chemically similar elements namely iridium, osmium, palladium, platinum, rhodium and ruthenium. This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of EILs (Eutectic Based Ionic Liquids) as a platinum group metal leachate along with the optimal parameters for the leaching carried out. Leaching was carried out by mixing 0.8 gram of sample which had been powdered with EILs choline chloride-oxalic acid in a Schlenk Tube and heated using a hotplate with sand as the medium. The heating parameters used as variations were temperature, time, and L/S ratio with temperature variations at 60, 70, and 80°C; time variations at 24, 36, 48, and 72 hours; variations in L/S ratio 10, 15, 20, 25 mL/g. The residue that has been leached will be taken, then the residue that has been washed and dried will be analyzed using XRF, SEM, and XRD to obtain data from leaching process. The variation with the most optimal results was shown when the leaching process was running with a temperature parameter of 80°C, L/S ratio of 20 mL/g, and heating for 72 hours and stirring at 500rpm on a hotplate with a magnetic stirrer. In this parameter, the extraction results obtained are Pd: 49.676%; Pt: 85.625%%; Rh: 51.7%. The three parameters used in this experiment have proven to have an effect on the leaching results. The parameter that has the most influence on the leaching result is temperature where in each different variation, the temperature difference gives a very significant change to the sample leaching result. After being tested using SEM, changes were only seen on the surface of the sample which was eroded and became smoother, but there was no significant change in the distribution of elements in the sample. With this research, hopefully it will provide knowledge about EILs and their synthesis processes, as well as the leaching process of PGMs from catalytic converter waste in the autocatalyst using EILs so that high-value metals are obtained.
