Abstract
Positive interactions among students are generally found in friendships, both in playmates and study partners. When the relationships with friends are established well, emotional bonds such as mutual care, support, and emotional dependence tend to emerge. The emotional attachment among peers is known as peer attachment. Peer attachment consists of three aspects: trust, communication, and alienation. The term "peer attachment" refers to a stronger bond perceived among students, based on a sense of enjoyment, security, and mutual trust. When positive attachment exists within study partner relationships, the implication is the growth of social skills, enabling students to communicate, collaborate, and assist each other in understanding the study materials, thus potentially enhancing academic achievement. The research method employed is a survey study, utilizing saturated sample of 32 students. The aim of this research is to determine the depiction of peer attachment among sixth-grade students and whether there is an relationship between peer attachment and academic achievement. Peer attachment in this study is the score obtained by the research subjects on the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment-Revised (IPPA-R) scale, developed by Gullone and Robinson (2005); initially created by Armsden and Greenberg. The research findings show that the level of communication among sixth-grade students is at a high level, accounting for 53%. There is no significant relationship between peer attachment and the level of academic achievement, as indicated by the Pearson correlation value (r) of 0.009 with p = 0.971 (p > 0.05).
