Abstract

Peningkatan kebutuhan akan konektivitas Wi-Fi yang baik dan cakupan yang luas pada institusi pendidikan telah mendorong perencanaan dan pengembangan jaringan nirkabel yang efisien. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti mengajukan pendekatan baru untuk mengoptimalkan penempatan Access Point (AP) Wi-Fi dengan menggunakan metode Simulated Annealing dan model propagasi COST 231 Multiwall. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada gedung 23F Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) di Purwakarta yang saat ini digunakan sebagai ruang perkuliahan. Peneliti menggunakan algoritma Simulated Annealing untuk menemukan konfigurasi terbaik dari posisi Simulasi AP Wi-Fi di gedung 23F UPI, Peneliti menggunakan software ekahau dalam simulasi penempatan AP. Model propagasi COST 231 Multiwall digunakan untuk memprediksi penyebaran sinyal dan mencari jumlah Access Point yang dibutuhkan pada Gedung 23F UPI. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode Simulated Annealing mampu menghasilkan lebih baik dibandingkan dengan keadaan saat ini. Implementasi hasil Perencanaan ulang Access Point Wi-Fi menggunakan Simulated Annealing menunjukkan peningkatan cakupan sinyal dan peningkatan Signal Strength berdasarkan hasil simulasi kapasitas pengguna dengan jumlah Access Point 4 buah perlantainya dan Nilai Signal Strength kategori bagus perlantainya mendekati optimal dengan nilai diatas 98%,. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa metode Simulated Annealing dan model propagasi COST 231 Multiwall dapat diaplikasikan secara efektif dalam perencanaan ulang jaringan Wi-Fi di lingkungan kampus yang kompleks seperti gedung 23F UPI Purwakarta. Hasil dari penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam meningkatkan kekuatan jaringan Wi-Fi pada Gedung 23F UPI Purwakarta. ----- The growing demand for reliable and extensive Wi-Fi connectivity in educational institutions has driven the efficient planning and development of wireless networks. In this research, a novel approach is proposed for optimizing the placement of Wi-Fi Access Points (APs) using the Simulated Annealing method and the COST 231 Multiwall propagation model. The study focuses on the 23F Building at the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) campus in Purwakarta, currently utilized as classroom space. The researcher employed the Simulated Annealing algorithm to determine the optimal configuration of Wi-Fi AP positions within the 23F Building. The Ekahau software was utilized for AP placement simulations. The COST 231 Multiwall propagation model was employed to predict signal distribution and ascertain the required number of Access Points for the 23F Building The research findings indicate that the Simulated Annealing method outperforms the current state. The implementation of the Wi-Fi Access Point redesign using Simulated Annealing demonstrates improved signal coverage and increased Signal Strength. Simulation results reveal enhanced user capacity with four Access Points per floor and excellent Signal Strength values, nearing optimal performance at above 98%. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of the Simulated Annealing method and COST 231 Multiwall propagation model for the efficient redesign of Wi-Fi networks in complex campus environments, such as the 23F Building at UPI Purwakarta. The outcomes of this research contribute to bolstering Wi-Fi network robustness within the 23F Building at UPI Purwakarta
