Abstract

Keterampilan proses sains merupakan keterampilan yang penting dikuasai siswa. Keterampilan proses sains siswa yang rendah menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dan peningkatan penerapan pendekatan STEM terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen. Sampel terdiri dari siswa kelas V A sebagai kelas eksperimen yang menerima pembelajaran dengan pendekatan STEM dan V B sebagai kelas kontrol yang menerima pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan STEM menghasilkan peningkatan sebesar 0,82 dan berada pada kategori tinggi, sedangkan pada pendekatan saintifik menghasilkan peningkatan sebesar 0,38 dan berada pada kategori sedang. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan keterampilan proses sains siswa kelas eksperimen lebih baik dibandingkan siswa kelas kontrol. Terdapat juga pengaruh dari pendekatan STEM terhadap peningkatan keterampilan proses sains siswa sekolah dasar sebesar 16,9%. Dalam penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa: 1) Peningkatan keterampilan proses sains siswa yang menerima pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan STEM lebih baik dibandingkan siswa yang menerima pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik. 2) Pendekatan STEM dalam pembelajaran sains berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa. ----- Science process skills are important skills for students to master. The students' low science process skills were the background to this study. This study aims to determine the effect and increase the application of STEM approaches to the science process skills of elementary school students. The type of research used in this study is quasi-experimental. The sample consisted of students of class V A as an experimental class who received learning with a STEM approach and V B as a control class who received learning with a scientific approach. The results of data analysis showed that learning with the STEM approach resulted in an increase of 0.81 and was in the high category, while the scientific approach resulted in an increase of 0.38 and was in the medium category. These results showed that the improvement of science process skills of experimental class students was better than that of control class students. There was also an influence from the STEM approach on improving the science process skills of elementary school students by 16.9%. In this study, it was concluded that: 1) The improvement of science process skills of students who received learning using a STEM approach was better than students who received learning with a scientific approach. 2) STEM approaches to science learning affect students' science process skills.
